Baby Boy Gift Set

My friend Latoya has 3 coworkers expecting babies over the next few months. She has requested gift sets, and this is the first one for an expected baby boy. They plan to name him John Edward, initials J.E.D. and they'll call him Jed. The colors they have picked out are sage green and light blue, so here is what we settled on:

The dot border on the bib and onesie is a design I got from Sew Forum. The text was added using Embird Alphabet #2.

Here you go, Valerie...

Tonight Valerie was teasing me saying, "You haven't posted on your blog in a week!" This is why... I've been constructing Crayon Rolls en masse. Here's the 27 I've been doing off and on this week. Hoping to sell them at a couple shows this month!

Thank you gift for Jordan

Several weeks ago Annaliese got her "big bed". We received this gift from a very generous family. Jordan, now in high school, got to pick out new bedroom furniture, and they gave us her old twin bed. As a token of our appreciation, I made this pillow for Jordan:

The color scheme for her new bedding is aqua/brown, so I found this fabric at JoAnn Fabrics and added an applique monogram patch.

The "J" is from the Dot Alphabet that I got on Sew Forum, and "jordan" was digitized by Kathy using the font Acadian. The rounded square applique came from My Embroidery Haven (it was a freebie on her yahoo group).

Special Delivery #3

A new member of our congregation arrived yesterday, about 4 weeks before her due date! I just returned from the hospital to visit this little one -- she is so tiny! Here is the onesie that I made for her, although it will be several months before she'll be big enough to wear it!

The design is from Sew Terific and I added all of the birth details with Embird Alphabet #2.

Annaliese and I are ready for the Pumpkin Patch, too!

Last night I was able to get Annaliese's fall dress and my matching shirt done!

I spent much more time deciding what design to use than actually stitching it! I finally settled on the four stacked pumpkins design from Pegboard Crafts. It stitched out BEAUTIFULLY! I would highly recommend her designs. I used the small size on Annaliese and the medium size on my top. I finally used my marble fat quarter sets that I bought last year at Jo-Anns on Black Friday at 6:30AM. They were perfect for this. And thankfully I already had perfect thread matches in my stash.

Annaliese's dress came from Dharma Trading. It is their Children's Short Sleeve Play Dress. Because it's short, I also got a pair of orange leggings from Wal-Mart for her to wear underneath it. My shirt is simply a white knit top from a department store.

And here we are at the pumpkin patch on 10/23/07:

Baby gift set

My friend Kristen will be attending a baby shower tomorrow for a friend that is expecting a baby girl. She asked me to make this coordinating gift set. I'm afraid after all these pink/brown and blue/brown sets I've done that the popular color combination is actually starting to grow on me...

The monogram on the burp cloth is from the Dot Alphabet I got on Sew Forum. Kathy digitized the name for me using the font Acadian.

The dot border on the bib and onesie is also a design I got from Sew Forum. The monogram on the onesie was added using Embird Alphabet #17.

Carla is going to be an aunt very soon (maybe today!), and requested a burp cloth with a truck on it. This design came from Hennessy Embroidery and the text was added with Embird Alphabet #2.

Ready for the Pumpkin Patch

Carla ordered some blank clothing items from Dharma Trading for me to embroider on. (As a side note, after many hours of searching the world wide web, this seems to be the only place to order blank dresses!)
First up is a set of outfits for heading to the pumpkin patch. She picked the Just Like Mommy Dress With Pockets for Ella, and an Infant Bubble Romper for Grant. They turned out super cute! I will have a modeled picture posted as soon as they make a trip to the pumpkin patch.

Each outfit has three different applique designs. On the bodice area is a three pumpkin design. The big pumpkin was a freebie at one time on Sew Forum (now for sale at Thread Creations) and the small pumpkins came from A Time To Stitch. They all stitched out flawlessly!

Placing the designs on the legs of Grant's romper wasn't a problem since it could be unsnapped. For Ella's dress, however, I had to take out about half of the stitches on the pockets so I could lay them flat on my hoop. After doing the applique I sewed them back down. It went amazingly well -- I hope it's always that easy....

The other things Carla ordered were 3 dresses for Annaliese and an overall romper. The overalls will probably be a gift for someone eventually. Now I need to decide what to do with Annaliese's dresses. This afternoon she asked me to make her a pumpkin dress to match Ella and Grant. I don't know if I'll do one exactly the same, but she certainly will have a fall dress soon!

Crayon Purse

This morning I made this crayon purse for Annaliese. I used the crayon roll design from Sewing For Sarah, but I added Annaliese's name (Tinker Toy font freebie from Sew Forum), switched the tack-down locations for the ribbon from the side to the top, and then I layered a folded piece of fabric with the back fabric. This created a pocket on the other side to hold a notebook or stickers or whatever Annaliese wants to stick in it. I was super tickled with the results! I love this fabric -- the Tinker Toy font is perfect with all the polka dots, and the crayon fabric is great, too!
