Twins Galore!

Within the same week I decided to make pacifier clips for twins that were recently born locally AND 2 friends each requested pairs of pacifier clips for expected twins. Tonight I made all 6 at the same time (the best way to do it!)

I've changed the way I do these slightly. On the first several I had the text going down the clip vertically. But Rebecca (who loves her two pacifier clips for her son) recently said his name looks funny upside down. I didn't really think about the fact that the times the pacifier isn't in the baby's mouth the name would be hanging upside down. So I decided to turn the text horizontally, which in the end looks much better. For those of you who got one of my first ones, and are reading this, I'd be delighted to make a new one for you if you'd like!

For anyone who cares how I embroidered them en masse...
I hooped tearaway stabilizer, marked vertical lines, and sprayed it with adhesive. I laid all the ribbons down and then stitched a basting stitch around the perimeter to help hold the ribbons in place. I centered each design on the appropriate ribbon and stitched away! It went pretty quickly, especially since all of them but one used the same thread color.

Happy Birthday, Madison!

Tomorrow is Madison's Fourth Birthday! We gave her this bandana dress.

The top layer is an FSU bandana, the bottom is just some nice garnet colored calico. After I cut the center out of the bandana, there was the word "SEMINOLES" left behind. I couldn't let that go to waste! I discovered that one of the rounded rectangle appliques from My Embroidery Haven's yahoo group would fit around "NOLES". I also happened to have thread that matches the gold color perfectly. I was pretty pleased.

Madison and her family are headed out of town for the weekend, so hopefully I'll get a modeled picture once they return. I'm anxious to see how well it fits and if I'll have any alterations to make.

I have 11 more of these bandanas, courtesy of Ginny Wagner, so we'll see if Madison generates special requests by wearing it around town!

Baby Boy Gift Set

My friend Latoya has 3 coworkers expecting babies over the next few months. She has requested gift sets, and this is the first one for an expected baby boy. They plan to name him John Edward, initials J.E.D. and they'll call him Jed. The colors they have picked out are sage green and light blue, so here is what we settled on:

The dot border on the bib and onesie is a design I got from Sew Forum. The text was added using Embird Alphabet #2.

Here you go, Valerie...

Tonight Valerie was teasing me saying, "You haven't posted on your blog in a week!" This is why... I've been constructing Crayon Rolls en masse. Here's the 27 I've been doing off and on this week. Hoping to sell them at a couple shows this month!

Thank you gift for Jordan

Several weeks ago Annaliese got her "big bed". We received this gift from a very generous family. Jordan, now in high school, got to pick out new bedroom furniture, and they gave us her old twin bed. As a token of our appreciation, I made this pillow for Jordan:

The color scheme for her new bedding is aqua/brown, so I found this fabric at JoAnn Fabrics and added an applique monogram patch.

The "J" is from the Dot Alphabet that I got on Sew Forum, and "jordan" was digitized by Kathy using the font Acadian. The rounded square applique came from My Embroidery Haven (it was a freebie on her yahoo group).

Special Delivery #3

A new member of our congregation arrived yesterday, about 4 weeks before her due date! I just returned from the hospital to visit this little one -- she is so tiny! Here is the onesie that I made for her, although it will be several months before she'll be big enough to wear it!

The design is from Sew Terific and I added all of the birth details with Embird Alphabet #2.

Annaliese and I are ready for the Pumpkin Patch, too!

Last night I was able to get Annaliese's fall dress and my matching shirt done!

I spent much more time deciding what design to use than actually stitching it! I finally settled on the four stacked pumpkins design from Pegboard Crafts. It stitched out BEAUTIFULLY! I would highly recommend her designs. I used the small size on Annaliese and the medium size on my top. I finally used my marble fat quarter sets that I bought last year at Jo-Anns on Black Friday at 6:30AM. They were perfect for this. And thankfully I already had perfect thread matches in my stash.

Annaliese's dress came from Dharma Trading. It is their Children's Short Sleeve Play Dress. Because it's short, I also got a pair of orange leggings from Wal-Mart for her to wear underneath it. My shirt is simply a white knit top from a department store.

And here we are at the pumpkin patch on 10/23/07:

Baby gift set

My friend Kristen will be attending a baby shower tomorrow for a friend that is expecting a baby girl. She asked me to make this coordinating gift set. I'm afraid after all these pink/brown and blue/brown sets I've done that the popular color combination is actually starting to grow on me...

The monogram on the burp cloth is from the Dot Alphabet I got on Sew Forum. Kathy digitized the name for me using the font Acadian.

The dot border on the bib and onesie is also a design I got from Sew Forum. The monogram on the onesie was added using Embird Alphabet #17.

Carla is going to be an aunt very soon (maybe today!), and requested a burp cloth with a truck on it. This design came from Hennessy Embroidery and the text was added with Embird Alphabet #2.
