Sibling Shirts

When Kaz arrives he will make Kendal a big sister.  I used this as an opportunity to try out a new set of sibling designs from Original Stitches!
I debated for quite some time what fabric I should use. I finally settled on good ole gingham, and love the results!

My Little Noles Turkey

Let's start right off the bat with the cute kid, who is in the stage where "smile" means "crinkle your face as much as possible"
Isn't this design adorable?? Dashiell happened to be standing near my computer when I first saw the Divided Football Turkey design from Original Stitches. He said, "A turkey with football feathers?!? That's silly! Can you make one for me?" :)
I got the design that day, but his turkey shirt from last year still fits, so I started to talk myself out of it. But then yesterday I saw a really cute shirt using the design and decided at the last minute to make it after all, so glad I did!
There are two versions of this design. One has all the football feathers the same color so you can use brown fabric for traditional footballs. OR you can get this design that allows you to use your favorite team colors for the football feathers. So clever! Go Noles!

Frayed Layered Star onesie

Original Stitches posted a freebie design on their Facebook page, with a cool challenge for the month... if you post a picture of your stitchout, you can request another free design of your choice! First of all, it's a cute design, so yay! But I've been eying this cool stethoscope design, so I jumped at the chance to get it for free. :)
I put the Frayed Layered Star on a 0-3 month sized onesie I had in my stash. I plan to send this to a sweet little girl who should be born just before July 4th. :)
Frayed or raggy designs are such a nice quick way to put a big design on such a tiny item. Only 4 minutes on my machine, all trimming done afterwards when it's out of the hoop. Now that's my kind of onesie design! I've done a three layered frayed star design before, but I really like the look of this rounded version!
The challenge continues... if I post a picture of the stethoscope design, I can get another freebie. BUT we have a crazy couple of weeks coming up getting ready for company and graduation, so I'm not sure I can squeeze it in amongst my remaining orders and sewing projects. We'll see. Anyone dying to own something with that design on it? Shoot me an email. :)

Dino-mite Birthday Shirt

Sue requested a birthday shirt for her grandson, suggesting a dinosaur holding a "3". I immediately thought of Original Stitches' Apatosaurus design and ran to her site. She only had the "1" design listed, so I asked on her Facebook page if she had plans to do additional numbers. She quickly responded that she'd be happy to do the 3 design, and within a couple days had a design ready for me before I was even ready to stitch it! It turned out so cute!! Thanks again, Erin!
Here's the link to her #3 design. Go check out her stitch out picture -- it looks so cute with girly pastels! It's amazing how fabric choices can completely change the look of an applique design. I LOVE APPLIQUE! :)
I added "JIMMIE-REX" with Embird Alphabet #8.
