Eureka's Baby Shower Gift

Today was baby shower #3 of our current baby boom at church! Eureka and Chris are expecting a baby girl and plan to name her Kylie. My gift consists of a flannel rag-tag blankie, a Snowbaby, a pacifier clip, and two burpcloths:

The design for the Snowbabies comes from The Embroidery Market. I used Embird Alphabet #33 to add the text on the Snowbaby and Pacifier Clip.

The first burp cloth is one for Eureka to use, girly with the ever popular pink/brown combination. The design is from a Dot Alphabet that I got on Sew Forum. Kathy digitized the name "Kylie" for me in a font (Acadian) that works perfectly with this alphabet.

The second burp cloth is perfect for Chris to use! I added the text to the clapboard design using Embird Alphabet #2. I love how this black and white ribbon looks like film!

Kristen's Shower gift

Yesterday was Kristen's baby shower, so now I can post the rest of her gift. :) Thankfully I was determined to finish her gift before leaving for my trip to IL, because when I returned home, my machine decided to stop working! So for those of you who look forward to my nearly daily posting of new embroidery projects... please pray for a rapid (and inexpensive) repair!
Sad news over, here's the cute baby items:

First up is one of the Snowbabies from The Embroidery Market. I chose brown and blue because those are the colors of Hudson's nursery.

I made a personalized pacifier clip:

And two burp cloths. The one with "H" and dots has been previously posted. This one has garnet and gold fabric and an applique football from Embroidery Garden (off of a freebie football sucker holder available on her yahoo group).

The text for all of these items was added with Embird Alphabet #33.
Not pictured is a flannel Rag-Tag blankie, similar to the one Rachel got!

Rebecca's Baby Shower Gift

One of my husband's coworkers is expecting, gender will be a surprise. This was my gender-neutral gift for her shower today:

A pacifier clip with their last name embroidered on it

A Snowbaby with a "C" (from The Embroidery Market)

Two burp cloths -- I made these out of flannel. They turned out cute, but it's a lot of work... I got the clapboard from here and the text was inspired by a onesie I saw on Sew Forum.

The parrot is from Embroidery Library, I added the wording with Embird. Mommy and Daddy are Jimmy Buffet fans... hee hee...

It was a hit!!
Update: They had a boy and named him Caleb. Rebecca requested another pacifier clip (one just isn't enough!)

Rachel's Baby Shower gift

This baby shower gift was for Rachel. Her baby is due at the end of August, and we had a shower for her this afternoon...

Included were two different styles of burp cloths. One, "Teacher's Pet" was posted previously. I made the "Cute as a Button" out of three layers of flannel with fabric added to the ends/back. The design came from Charming Station.

Next was a rag style flannel blankie with loops of ribbon -- a great sensory item.

I also made a Snow Baby (design from The Embroidery Garden), adding the "S" to personalize it.

Finally I did a pacifier clip, personalizing the ribbon with their last name.

Once the darling baby is born and named, Rachel will get a few more personalized items!

My first in-hoop project

This little Snowbaby is a design from The Embroidery Market. It's a fun easy project. I bought all the supplies (fleece and stuffing) and stitched it out today. As an added experiment, I added an "A" to the heart to personalize it for Annaliese. She loved it and took it to bed with her. It's tiny in her hands now, but for a baby it would be perfect. Should be completely washer/dryer safe. It's nice to have one to experiment with before giving away.
The things I learned...
1. Use felt for face (as called for in the directions) instead of fleece. The extra thickness was difficult to trim, and caused some stitching errors around the head.
2. Don't use Jokerman font for a single letter monogram. The letter A standing alone looks as though the embroidery machine did a poor job stitching--you can't tell that it's from a funky font.
