Baby Shower Gift

A year ago Shannon and others threw us a nice baby shower at Carlin's work. Today was Shannon's turn to be showered with gifts for her expected baby girl!
Rumor has it they plan to name their little girl Sarah (and if her name changes I'll just swap it out of an accurate one later). The S is from Embroidery Boutique's Vintage Applique Alphabet and I used Itty Bitty Alphabet from 8 Claws and a Paw for her name.

Shannon danced with the Tallahassee Ballet, and maybe her daughter will do the same! The ballet shoes design is from Nobbie Neez Kids. I added "Future Ballerina" with Embird Alphabet #38. Instead of my usual row of ribbon, I found this pretty trim that reminded me of a ballerina tutu.

This baby girl is going to make Jack a big brother, and I decided to make them coordinating sibling shirts. They aren't identical, but look cute together:

Jack is really into superheros, so when I saw Nobbie Neez Kids' Tiny Superboy design, I decided to replace it for the "I" in BIG and make him a "SUPER BIG BROTHER" Shirt! The rest of the text is from Itty Bitty Alphabet from 8 Claws and a Paw.

I opted for the adjective "sweet" for the baby girl, and used NNK's Lollipop Teeny to replace the "i"s in "Sweet Little Sister". I used the same font, but stitched lower case letters instead, and used pretty little girl colors.

Baby Girl Gift Set

When Kristen found out her brother and his wife were expecting a baby girl, she requested this set (which got shipped just a couple days before she was born!)

The initial inspiration was a similar set I had stitched earlier for baby Peyton -- since her niece will be called Lily, she wanted to go with a floral motif. I used the Flower Power monogram from Julia's Needle Design. "Lily" was added with the font "Amazone BT" digitized for me by Kathy.

For the bib I stitched her name using the same font, and used the flowers from the monogram.

Kristen also wanted an A-line dress, primarily for the other side (which you'll see in a minute). I knew Hobby Lobby had material that matched this ribbon, so Kathy graciously purchased some for me and mailed it my way (we don't have a Hobby Lobby close by, sniff, sniff). I stitched her name again on the dress, using the same font. It's a tad more subtle than I would have liked, but it's still pretty. It is a Martha Pullen reversible A-line size 1.

Kristen's brother is a huge University of Miami fan, so she wanted a little dress for Lily that would display some team spirit!

The fringe cheerleader on megaphone design is from Nobbie Neez Kids. I added "Daddy's Little Hurricane" with Embird Alphabet #8.

Annaliese's New Shirt

Thursday night I made Annaliese this shirt:

After dinner we told her our big news, and she got very excited about a baby joining our family. While morning sickness has already set it, God blessed me with an hour of feeling good that evening so I could get her shirt stitched. She wore it to Life Group Friday night, as well as preschool Monday morning, to announce our news.

The design came from Nobbie Neez Kids. Since I wanted to add "I'm going to be a" to "Big Sister" and I couldn't match the font, I switched it out and used Embird Alphabet #8. This is a fringe design so the hair is hanging loose on purpose.
I did a terrible job stabilizing the shirt so it's very wrinkly, but it got the job done. At least it was for my daughter and not an order! ;)

Speaking of orders, I'm feeling very nauseous and exhausted. I'm going to do my best to complete the orders that I have already committed to, but I may not accept new ones over the next few weeks. Feel free to contact me, just know you may get a "no" or a "not right now" as an answer. Pray this stage passes quickly so I can return to being a good mommy and sewing!

Oh, and a few other details for those who care...
We found out two weeks ago, and yes, this baby is planned. I haven't seen an OB yet to get an official due date, but based on my calculations we are expecting him/her to arrive between Dec 28 and Jan 4. So we are praying for a 2008 tax deduction! At this moment Annaliese wants a brother, but initially she said she wanted a sister... hopefully she'll be happy with whatever we get!
