Recent stitching...

I thought with summer starting and not having to drive Annaliese back and forth to preschool every day I would have more time to sew. So far, not the case... maybe now that daily swim lessons are over I can continue to tackle my to do list. We'll see.

Anyway, I recently stitched a pair of crayon rolls and pencil rolls for Terri's girls:

And about a month ago I made key chains for Sabrina to give to her classroom volunteers, as I did last year. School colors are dark green and silver; I used Embird Alphabet #33 on all of them. (Also did one for Michelle while I was at it!)

Baby Shower Gifts

Sabrina requested a couple bibs to give as a shower gift today:

Both are bibs I have stitched for Dashiell. You can read the embroidery design details on those posts:
Tie bib
Superman bib, err... cape

For the same shower, I took this gift set:

Baby Carl is going to be named after his grandfather and father, so he's a third! The monogram uses Tinker Toy Alphabet from 8 Claws and a Paw and for the text I used an alphabet I have from Oregon Patch Works.

For the burp cloth the capital C monogram is from Vintage Applique Alphabet from Embroidery Boutique. I added "Carl" with the Tinker Toy alphabet from 8 Claws and a Paw.

Happy Birthday, Gideon!

Gideon is turning three and LOVES the movie Cars. Because she's such a groovy mommy, Daisha threw him a Cars-themed birthday party, but the star of this event is Gideon, not McQueen! She created his own race car and logo, and asked me to make him a shirt for the occasion.
Daisha gave me drawing of what she had in mind, and I was able to find an alphabet I already had that matched pretty well. I put it in an oval, added the number "3" and stitched away!

The font is Script 1 from 8 Paws and a Claw. I digitized the applique oval, and added the three with Embird Alphabet #2.

Here's a pic of Gideon on his big day:

Gift for twin boys

One more post for today, and then I'm taking a break!

Gary and Becky's good friends recently had twin boys. Their nursery is browns/greens and monkeys -- I bet I'd love it! To coordinate they purchased these baskets with liners, and I added the boys' names to them, using the Tinker Toy Alphabet from 8 Claws and a Paw.

The baskets won't be shipped empty! G&B also purchased two adorable blankets that I added names to:

These minkee/fleece blankets already had the text and applique monkey stitch in the corner. I searched through my fonts to find one that matched the cursive text, and settled on Amelie from 8 Claws and a Paw. I used Embird to curve the letters, marked the center of my design, and then held my breath as the names stitched out. I was very nervous about getting the position right, and wasn't confident how well it would stitch on a thick blanket so close to the binding. I was amazed with the results. Prayers before hitting the start button are always worthwhile!!

Welcome Baby Jimmie!

Sue contacted me about stitching some items for her new grandson, and I was happy to oblige!
First, I did the Special Delivery design from Sew Terific, but instead of stitching it on a onesie, she wanted it on fabric to frame. I stitched it on a piece of khaki colored broadcloth and then appliqued that to some camo fabric:

In keeping with the camo theme, I monogrammed this burp cloth. The applique J is from Embroidery Boutique's Fun Applique Alphabet. I used the Jason font from 8 Claws and a Paw for "Jimmie". Also note the camo ribbon pacifier clip (Embird Alphabet #8 on that).

And finally Daddy is a Kansas City Chiefs fan, so this burp cloth is in honor of that. I used the applique from a football sucker holder design from Embroidery Garden (a freebie on her yahoo group) and I added the text with Embird Alphabet #8.

Monogrammed Hand Towels

Rosanne asked me to monogram a couple hand towels for her daughter. They were purchased at Target with dots already appliqued on (cute, huh?). I added the "M", which is from Five Star Font's Whimsy Dots.

Monogrammed Stocking

About a year ago Lily was born. This spring her mom asked if I would monogram the stocking they bought for her at Christmas. She gave me her husband's stocking, and my goal was to match the font, size, thread type and color. I should have taken a picture of John's stocking so you could judge how well I did, but I didn't. Here's Lily's stocking, ready to go for next Christmas!

Thankfully the font was easy to match (Times New Roman-ish) and I used Embird Alphabet #16. Metallic thread is a challenge that I'm going to have to either avoid altogether or spend lots of time practicing...

As I was stitching this, I remembered a couple other stockings I did but never blogged about. In December 2007 Susie bought a couple stockings for her daughter, anticipating a marriage proposal. I stitched them at that time, but Susie decided to wait and give them as a wedding gift for their November 2008 wedding. Of course my December was a little crazy and I didn't think about them again until this week. :) I used Embird Alphabet #2 for these.

Happy Birthday, Janay!

No, I didn't actually stitch something for myself. I did sew, but it was for a different birthday girl, pictures later.

My blog got a much needed face lift, courtesy of my personal graphic designer/web/video/tech guy. Thanks Carlin!!!

What do you think??

Happy Birthday Bryce!

This post is way overdue, but it has been a crazy month!
Two weeks ago was Bryce's birthday party, and knowing how much he loves to dress up AND how much he loves the Justice League, I made him this t-shirt:

Well... I was going to link to the shirt I made him last year for his birthday, but I can't find a post, so maybe I never shared it. I'm surprised because it was the first applique design I digitized and was pretty pleased with myself. Oh well, here it is now. I made Bryce this shirt in addition to his pencil and crayon rolls:
